Product Design
A large proportion of a product s total environmental impact is caused by the energy consumed in the use phase. Therefore we set energyreduction goals for each product, and work hard to make steady progress in this area with high performance chips.
ðè Energy consumption of Epson projectors has been reduced by 90% over a
10 year period.
ðè Power consumption of leading all-in-one inkjet photo printers has been reduced by more than 70% during the last four years. The generated power reduction equates the elimination of about 826 tonnes of CO2 since 2003
and the amount of electricity saved would generate energy for approximately 361 households for a whole year.
ðè Epson ReadyScan LED technology. Epson has developed a white light emitting diode (LED) which enables instant scanning from power on or standby, and uses up to 58% less energy than the conventional coldcathode fluorescent lamps (CCFL) normally found in scanners.

UND, a partner of Friends of the Earth, proclaimed Epson inkjet printers as having the lowest energy consumption and costs compared to the competition.
2008: E
pson is the first printer company to be recommended by the UK
governmental initiative Energy Saving Trust.
